2025 Year in Review
TLDR: 2025 was an incredibly intense but exciting year, filled with career highlights, plenty of travel, and new connections.
General
#- ๐ฉ๐ชSecond year back in Berlin and I've started to settled in
Took 11 trips (2 personal, 9 for work): Paris (2x), Mountain View, Stockholm, Warsaw, Zurich, New York, Helsinki (2x), Mรกlaga, and Madrid.
Work
#- Joined Google DeepMind in February
- Feeling incredibly grateful to be part of such an amazing group, I truly have the best teammates
- Visited the Google campus in Mountain View, a dream come true since my university days
- Contributed to key launches for Gemini 2.5, Gemini 3, Nano Banana ๐, Veo 3, and more
- Worked to improve the developer experience across our models, APIs, SDKs, & AI Studio.
- Helped shape the Gemini API docs & cookbooks, still trying to ship improvements every week
- Created a comprehensive Gemini workshop on GitHub
- Led some partnerships to improve DX for Open Source frameworks
- Traveled a lot to give ~20 talks and workshops on building with Gemini, from big stages 1, 2, 3 to smaller community meetups
- Started teaching on the Google for Developers YouTube channel (Nano Banana guide, vibe coding, Gemini 3 for devs)
- Published technical blog posts (Nano Banana dev guide, Batch API improvements, Gemini's multimodal capabilities)
- Created a bunch of demos, like the ๐Gemini & Google Maps tool
YouTube
#It's not really worth its own section anymore, but for the sake of tradition, here are the 2025 personal YouTube channel stats:
- 1 video (damn, again๐ฅฒ)
- 1.5M views
- 91K watch hours
- +13.2K subscribers
- $3,880
Fitness
#- Could go back into running after a year-long injury, now I can comfortably run 10K again and I'm incredible grateful for that. In the whole year I managed to accumulate 241 km
- Second year of indoor cycling with Beat81, still a lot of fun, want to do more of it
- Explored more nature around Berlin with my gravel bike
- Invested in a yearly subscription for the Pliability app to do more stretching (~$120, worth it)
Connections
#- Worth its own section because of the many, many, many new people I met, mostly thanks to work. This includes not just colleagues, but also people from all the events I attended. I'm grateful for so many great new connections this year, some of whom have become very special to me ๐
- Not gonna lie, I had a bit less time and energy for my social life in Berlin, but overall I still managed to make time for the people who are important to me. I hope to prioritize this even more next year
2026 Goals
#- Slightly fewer work trips
- 10x more building and shipping
- Run a half marathon
- Continue stretching 3x/week
- Read 12 books
- Prioritize social life more
- Start 1 new non-tech hobby
In summary, 2025 was a true peak in my career, an incredibly rewarding whirlwind that was equal parts intense, stressful, and exhilarating. I just took 3 weeks off to recharge, and I can't wait to start shipping again! I'm super excited for the AI breakthroughs coming in 2026 ๐
Cheers,
